This recycled clothes was created by using vegetable dyeing methods with food waste such as peels of onions, the used tea leaves, also the leaves of rape blossoms bloomed in my university. This is my challenge as environmental actions for our planet earth to reduce consumption and take well care of what we already have. I planned this project because of seeing the heartbreaking data that people in Japan is predicted as purchasing approximately 18, throwing away 12 and keeping 25 clothes in closets per year. In order to solve this problem I came up with an idea that old clothes that are thrown away in the world can be saved if we dye the clothes and add colors on the clothes with waste vegetables that can create a new story. I think the strong question of if these are really garbage? or can these be recycled or reused? may lead a new power of making sustainable society in the future. I believe fashion actually holds the bright possibilities to convey today’s serious social issues so positively into the world to unveil the real situations of our society.
