I have done an online curation project on Instagram(@manosartwork) to show a message of concerns for the inheritance of traditional Japanese colors and traditional techniques of Japanese craftsmen from ancient times. One of the reasons why theJapanese traditional crafts is presumed to disappear in the future is not only because of the globalization but also I think because of the lack of interests and prides of Japanese younger generations. The sad situation exist among young people for example it is thought that the artistic culture created by craftsmen is far away from their own lives, or it is nothing more than a thing of the past. Actually local traditional crafts I think are not just sophisticated techniques, they areplaying an important role by keeping the histories and the unique cultures of the region, also they are handing down some wisdoms accumulated by our ancestors for our next generations. Because of it, I think weyoung generations right now should put much effort to keep the traditions not to be disappeared. It may be possible to achieve through my art works such as drawings using Japanese traditional colors and writing reinterpreted descriptions in detail on about the colors with the back telling histories of the culture. As like this, if we can keep the unique Japanese cultures and the wisdoms of our ancestors in art works such as paintings and music, we may be able to hand down the traditional Japanese culture to the next generation. Especially right now information can be spread through social media so that I think it is possible to attract younger generations through visual illustrations or music to show positively about the existence of disappearing traditional cultures.
