Newspaper Bags to Reduce Plastics

As majority of people may know, Japan is highly addicted to the use of plastics such as wrapping everything in plastics, producing pet bottles because of the advantages of its properties: light but durable, colorable, and enable companies to produce a large quantity at once. Frequently, these are produced to be thrown away after the single use in our society, which can be a serious cause of ocean plastic crises. The Environment minister Shinjiro Koizumi mentions “If we take the issue of plastic, Japan has been lambasted for producing the second-most plastic waste per head in the world, but in terms of total waste output, China has far more output. Japan, on the other hand, actually has high rates of plastic recovery.” Actually today’s Japanese government claims that our country has one of the highest rates of recycling plastics in today’s world. Although Japan is said to be succeed in 84 percent recycling, some criticisms should be made in here that within the high percentage of recycling,plastic recycling in Japan is generally divided into 3 categories: Thermal recycling, chemical recycling, and material recycling and the thermal recycling in the way of “recycling” by burning plastic wastes and use them for energy, which covers 56 percent out of 84! From this I thought as a student in Japan we should do something by our selves so that started with a new eco challenge of creating newspaper bags to reduce the plastic bags.
