The main challenge I faced here was to pretty much recreate all the GIF and PNG assets from the original SEGA website for PSO from 2005 and create replicas using SVG to increase the sharpness of the overall website.
The header was made using Flash back in the day so I had to rework the animations using CSS3 only and making sure it fit like in the original website style honoring all the layout in pixels and leveraging usage of CSS Grid to simulate our old approach of using floats from the CSS2 days.
The site was also developed using 11ty as the Static Page Manager and Strapi for the backend powering the News and Updates areas.
Thanks to the Internet Archive I'm attaching to this note a quick screenshot of a snapshot made of the original website from back in the day so you can visually see a more direct Before and After comparison.
The project was a blast and I had a lot of fun revisiting our old website styles and techniques from back in the day with the modern twist of today's technologies, I hope in the future be able to participate in similar projects to bring back our lost joy of creating colorful websites.
