Since its early days, Riso Porcelain has been known for its "Sometsuke". “Sometsuke" refers to porcelain painted with a pigment called gosu, which turns indigo when fired. Mr. Terauchi, the 4th generation president, happened to find a piece of Sometsuke pottery in his backyard and was completely fascinated by the colors and details that remained even after several hundred years. He was fascinated by the movement of the lines and the way they were painted. The potter may have been from Korea. Or perhaps the painters are from China.
