YUU MURATA Born in 1979 in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. After moving to Tokyo as a student he became fascinated with the club scene and subculture and started taking photos mainly of his friends working in the music industry in 2011. He shifted his focus to corporate projects around 2015, gaining experience in a variety of fields such as advertising. He became independent since 2021, establishing his own business as a corporation in 2024, continuing to work with clients from a variety of fields. When working with clients, rather than putting out his ego as an artist, he places importance on communication and understanding what is being sought by the client. His experience working for a video production company for a long time as a lighting technician, he is skilled at accurately capturing the ever-changing expression of lights and dramatically capturing a "moment" that lasts less than a second. He has an established reputation not only for taking advantage of natural light, but also for studio photography, where he uses elaborate lighting to bring out the best in his subjects. He also excels at emotional photography by using old-school film cameras such as the Mamiya RB67 and Hasselblad 500C/M. The tension that can only be experienced with analog cameras and the know-how gained from this experience is fully utilized in his digital photography works. 村田 悠 （ムラタ ユウ） 1979 年、広島県広島市に生まれる。学生時代に上京した後、クラブシーンやサブカルチャーに傾倒し、2011 年から音楽業界で活躍する友人たちを中心に写真を撮り始める。2015 年からは撮影の主体を企業案件に切り替え、広告を始めとする様々な分野で経験を積む。 2021 年に独立を果たし、2024 年より法人として起業。多方面からの依頼を受けるフォトグラファーとして現在に至る。クライアントワークにおいてはアーティストとしてのエゴを出さず、コミュニケーションを大切にし、何が求められているのかを汲み取ることを第一としている。 長らく映像制作会社に籍を置き、技術職として照明に携わっていたため、刻一刻と変わる光の表情を的確に捉え、わずか 1 秒にも満たない“瞬間”をドラマティックに切り取る術に長ける。自然光を活かした撮影はもとより、作り込んだライティングにより被写体の持ち味を最大限に引き出すスタジオ撮影にも定評がある。 また、マミヤ RB67 やハッセルブラッド 500C/M といったオールドスクールなフィルムカメラを駆使した情緒ある作風も得意とする。アナログでしか経験できない緊張感やそこから得たノウハウは村田のデジタル撮影にも存分に活かされている。
